The Role

The CMC Women's Health and Neonatal Stream will work in collaboration with relevant clinicians and managers to implement and maintain the requirements as specified in the NSW Health Maternity - Safety and Quality Essentials (PD 2023_031) across SESLHD and, to support the Women's Health and Neonatal Stream agenda across SESLHD. 
  
The CMC will be responsible for working with all SESLHD Maternity and Neonatal sites in promoting, reviewing and measuring quality of care and clinical risk across the District. The CMC will undertake relevant quality activities, including policy and guideline development and policy implementation. The CMC will work in close liaison with the LHD Clinical Governance Unit. The position will also promote and facilitate the development and implementation of primary health care continuity of care models for maternity service provision and work in consultation and collaboration with the Stream manager for all district wide Women’s and Neonatal initiatives.

 Selection Criteria

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with a minimum seven years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least five years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field and post graduate qualifications relevant to the field of practice.
  2. Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in the development of evidence based, collaborative midwifery practice and models of care.
  3. Demonstrated advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and proven application of the practice development framework to clinical practice.
  4. Demonstrated ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the initiation, utilisation and review of evidence based research.
  5. Demonstrated leadership in strategic and clinical service planning and expertise in the management of organisational and cultural change and knowledge and understanding of the principles of Clinical Governance.
  6. Proven advanced skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and evidence of ability to direct the development of educational programs.
  7. Proven clinical expertise in complex client-centered consultancy with the ability to work independently as well as across the Stream service; establishes networks to ensure consistency of approach to clinical governance and maternity service reform.
  8. Evidence of a current class C driver’s licence and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
