About the Opportunity

As a Clinician within the Eating Disorders Outpatient Service, you will play a vital role in supporting consumers with complex care needs. You will provide specialist, evidence-based care within a mental health context, empowering consumers and their families on their recovery journey and promoting long-term wellbeing.

This role goes beyond clinical care. You will contribute to service development, research, and quality improvement initiatives, including leading at least one major project each year. You may also provide supervision and leadership to generalist clinicians, helping to build capability across the district.

The Eating Disorders – Clinician sits within the operational management of the Eating Disorders Outpatient Service (EDOS), you will deliver direct clinical eating disorder services to clients of EDOS, and liaison and consultation regarding the management of people with eating disorders and their families in community settings. You will provide senior clinical expertise in the development  of specialist clinical practice and delivery of the EDOS  Model of Care as well as eating disorder-specific care to people with eating disorders, their carers and families and  health care professionals, across the health district and promote cultural change and awareness of eating disorders.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • You have a Tertiary degree and current full registration with APHRA or eligible for membership of relevant professional body as either a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, Registered Nurse, Registered Clinical Psychologist or Snr Psychologist, Counsellor- (Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health-Djirruwang program) and maintenance of such.
  • Demonstrated extensive post graduate experience either working within Mental Health or a specialist Eating Disorders service with demonstrated knowledge of disordered eating, body image and related social and cultural issues.
  • Extensive understanding of the clinical expertise required in the identification, assessment, diagnosis, care planning, management, treatment and provision of safe clinical care of people with feeding and eating disorders and their families, using evidence-based practice. In particular, demonstrated knowledge of CBT-E and/or FBT.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver a variety of therapeutic counselling models, including trauma-informed care for effective treatment of consumers with complex mental illnesses and their families.
  • NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel between sites.
