This is a maternity relief position and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice. Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 – Community Paediatric Team plays a vital role in delivering specialised, family-centred care for children with medical complexity across the Central Coast community. This rewarding position provides the opportunity to work within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, delivering case management, care coordination, and advanced nursing care across inpatient, outpatient, and home-based settings.

About The Opportunity

Working closely with tertiary paediatric services, treating teams, government and non-government agencies, and community providers, the role supports children and their families in navigating complex healthcare needs while promoting greater independence, improved wellbeing, and reduced hospitalisation. The position also offers meaningful involvement in supporting transitions to community-based services, including those delivered under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2, you will utilise advanced clinical expertise, professional judgement, and autonomous decision-making to provide high-quality complex care and achieve positive health outcomes for children and families. The role offers the opportunity to lead by example, apply sophisticated problem-solving skills, identify and manage clinical risks, and contribute to innovative, compassionate, and evidence-based paediatric care within a supportive and collaborative environment.

About You 

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) plus post graduate qualifications relevant to the specialty of Child & Family Health and/or Paediatrics or equivalent, and at least 3 years fulltime equivalent clinical experience in the specialty. Current unencumbered NSW Drivers Licence.

  • Demonstrated effective communication including verbal, written and interpersonal skills and information technology skills to provide a high level of care for children with complex medical conditions and vulnerable families.
    Demonstrated ability to provide complex care and advanced clinical skills in care planning, case management and service provision for children with medical complexities and their families.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise, and the ability to lead and foster innovation to enhance care provision within Child & Family Health/Paediatrics.
