What you'll be doing

The Child Development Service (CDS) is a specialist service within the NSLHD Child, Youth and Family Health Service. The CDS Team provides specialist (tertiary level) interdisciplinary, diagnostic assessment services for young children with emerging developmental disabilities, and other complex neurodevelopmental conditions.  The Team uses a family-partnership, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based approach in undertaking interdisciplinary assessments for children, and when providing support for their families.
The CDS Allied Health Team Leader (TL) manages, supports and leads the team of highly skilled, multidisciplinary allied health professionals and undertakes all operational human resource functions for the team.

The TL works closely with the CDS Clinical Director to provide leadership that ensures services are well coordinated for families.  The position oversees team clinical workflows and ensures processes are in place to optimise client experience, outcomes and timely client-flow through the multidisciplinary assessment process.

Together with the CDS Service Director, the TL helps foster a culture that promotes continuous improvement in providing client-centred, high quality, integrated, safe and appropriate care.

The TL assists the CDS Director with clinical governance matters and to build and maintain strategic, sustainable service partnerships and pathways with key internal and external service providers to ensure care is coordinated, integrated, and safely handed over to other service providers on discharge.
 
The TL works together with the Senior Specialist Speech Pathologist to ensure care coordination and service provision.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Masters degree in Clinical Psychology or Psychology and current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Psychologist must have a minimum of 9 years experience. Experience at a Level 2 and Bachelor’s Degree in social work with eligility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers or current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia or Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  2. Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical consultancy and effective supervision, education, training, and mentoring to clinicians and students - within the specialist scope of the position.
  3. Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
  4. Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, with ability to lead with purpose, promote a strong sense of collaborative teamwork and foster a client outcome improvement focus.
