Selection criteria:

1. To be a person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-discrimination Act 1977.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people accessing drug and alcohol services.
3. Direct experience as a consumer of a drug and alcohol service and sound knowledge of different treatment models.
4. Ability and willingness to work with drug and alcohol consumers and health workers.
5. Demonstrate an understanding of consumers’ rights and responsibilities.
6. Demonstrate an ability to attend and participate in regular meetings/forums.
7. An understanding and commitment to harm minimisation principles in drug and alcohol treatment settings.
8. Demonstrate an ability to work effectively and cooperatively, both independently and within a team environment.
