Your Qualifications

This is an identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position. Applicants must be able to demonstrate Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being an Aboriginal person being accepted in the community as such. Confirmation of Aboriginality is required with appropriate paperwork along with;

  • A tertiary qualification recognised by NSW Health in Aboriginal Health Practice, with AHPRA registration

  • Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence and vaild working with Children Check and National Criminal Record Check

 

The Role

The Aboriginal Primary Health Manager is responsible for the oversight of Aboriginal Health Workers/Practitioners and Enrolled Nurses in the Primary Care directorate. The position with oversee the healthcare facilities day to day operations, staff, and patient care, requiring strong leadership, administrative and organisational skills to ensure correct functioning and compliance with Justice Health NSW policies. The Aboriginal Primary Health Manager has a strategic focus on service delivery and stakeholder collaboration. The Aboriginal Primary Health Manager must work collaboratively with other staff in the primary care directorate to enhance cultural safety and responsibility for staff and patients.    

 

The Location
 
The Long Bay Correctional Complex is situated in Malabar, the work location offers free onsite parking, gym and subsidised café options within the complex making life a little easier. The complex is 14km from Sydney CBD on a 32-hectare site serving both male and female inmates of various security classifications.

The complex is primarily divided into three main components:

1. Long Bay Hospital, providing medical, surgical and psychiatric care for inmates and forensic patients across NSW.
2. Metropolitan Special Programs Centre, used for specialised rehabilitation programs
3. The Forensic Hospital, a highly secure mental health facility treating male, female and adolescent forensic and correctional patients.
