Skills and Knowledge

  • Being Female of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. (N.B. An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 and 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW).
  • Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) with current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and to liaise with other health professionals and external agencies to facilitate integrated care for Aboriginal people.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer literacy including word processing and data entry skills.
  • Active involvement in the local Aboriginal community, with demonstrated understanding and commitment to improving the health issues impacting on Aboriginal communities.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, use own initiative and take a lead role in initiating and carrying out community development activities.
