Are you passionate about community development, building capacity, providing support and education? Then you could be the perfect person to join the ISLHD Safe Wayz team located on the lands of the Dharawal and Yuin Nations.

 .

This is a wonderful opportunity to join the Safe Wayz team. This position provides individuals and teams a pathway for interventions with children under 10 with problematic or harmful sexualised behaviour. It can include education, advocacy, training, case management or counselling.

We’re looking for someone, who:

• Is interested in  networking in the community
• Has knowledge and understanding of child development and the impact of trauma
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the key health issues that impact Aboriginal people and communities
• Understands psychosocial assessments and developing safety plans for children and families that include cultural needs/connections and cultural care
• Is a Social Worker, Psychologist or has completed  the ECAV Aboriginal Pathway Advanced Diploma of Aboriginal Specialist Trauma Counselling

This is a multi-level classification, which means that we are looking varying degrees of experience, from new graduates to senior clinicians. Clinicians will be appointed based on the level of their experience and qualifications, and will have the opportunity to progress with the role.

From Helensburgh in the north to Durras in the south, ISLHD covers an area of 5,687 square kms. That’s 5,687 square kms of beautiful beaches, coastal cycling tracks, lush rainforests, incredible bushwalks and friendly people. The region is also host to many annual food, wine and arts festivals and events.

ISLHD operate eight hospital sites, employ over 8,500 staff and provide community health services across 58 locations. Commute times are short, childcare and schooling options are plentiful, and Sydney is close by.

The role is based primarily based at Warilla Community Health Centre, but the option to also be located at Nowra. A current, unrestricted NSW driver’s licence with the ability to travel to multiple locations is required.

Selection Criteria

1. Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the ability to effectively work with Aboriginal communities to address Aboriginal health and community needs.

2. Demonstrated understanding and skills in child centred focused practice, support, and case management to address problematic or harmful sexual behaviours with young children under 10 and their carers.
