About the role

SLHD Sexual Assault Service provides a 24 hour/7 day per week integrated psychosocial, medical and forensic service to adults and young people who present following concern about sexual assault. 
  
The primary purpose of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2) role is to provide specialist, integrated clinical care and advice to people who have recently experienced sexual assault. This includes the provision of medical and forensic examinations to adults and young people aged over 14 years. The Clinical Nurse Specialist has advanced clinical nursing knowledge, experience and skills which they apply to deliver complex nursing care, with a focus on integrated sexual assault medical and forensic responses.  
 
This position is responsible for the provision of services in SLHD.

 

We are looking for someone who has  

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years experience working in a relevant field such as Sexual Health, Family Planning, Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology or Emergency, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.
  • Completed, working towards or willing to undertake NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence Graduate Certificate in the Medical and Forensic Management of Adult Sexual Assault (or equivalent).
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable) and the ability to participate in an on-call roster.

    About working for SLHD

    This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2023_022).

      

    All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).​
     
    Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
