About the Team

Belmont Hospital provides a range of healthcare services to the Lake Macquarie community in a supportive and collaborative environment. As a Health and Security Assistant, you'll play an important role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital while contributing to safe, high-quality patient care.

This diverse position combines patient support, environmental services and security responsibilities, making every shift different and rewarding. Working alongside clinical and support services teams, you'll help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.

 

About the Role

As a Health and Security Assistant, you'll support the effective day-to-day operation of Belmont Hospital through a broad range of responsibilities, including:

  • Assisting with patient care, mobility and transfers under the direction of clinical staff.
  • Transporting patients safely throughout the hospital, including wards, medical imaging and treatment areas.
  • Performing routine and terminal cleaning duties in accordance with infection prevention and control standards.
  • Managing linen, waste and environmental services tasks.
  • Responding to security incidents, alarms and emergency situations.
  • Assisting with Code Black responses and patient restraint situations when required.
  • Supporting a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Assisting with mortuary transfers and other support service functions.


This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well under pressure and takes pride in providing excellent service within a busy healthcare setting.

 

About You

  • Ability to undertake the physical demands associated with patient handling, transfers and transportation.
  • Current National Criminal Record Check, or willingness to obtain.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Current NSW Class 1A Security Licence (Unarmed Guard).

     

Desirable

  • Current First Aid Certificate

What you'll be doing

Responsible for assisting in patient care, inner facility patient transfers, maintaining a high degree of cleanliness, dealing with security issues, including patient restraints to support the effective and efficient functioning of the health service.
