District Director, Nursing and Midwifery

  • South Western Sydney Local Health District have opportunity for an experienced and motivated leader to join their executive team in a pivotal strategic clinical leadership role. 
  • The District Director, Nursing and Midwifery will use their expertise to lead the development and implementation of contemporary models of care to support nurses and midwives working to their full scope of practice.
  • This role will work closely with the sites and services to drive a positive culture of safety and quality and continuous improvement.

Role Outline 

The role provides effective leadership and governance to the nursing & midwifery professions across the LHD, ensuring Nursing and Midwifery workforce planning and effective people management strategies are in place that attract, recruit, develop and retain quality nursing & midwifery staff to provide excellent patient care to the community served by the LHD. 

The role also carries the portfolio of Health Service Functional Area Coordinator (HSFAC) overseeing disaster preparedness and response for the LHD.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Current Registration as Registered Nurse Division 1 or Registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 and Registered Midwife with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia.

This is an ongoing, full time, Band 1, Health Service senior executive (HSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $217,997 to $242,100 per annum, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
