About us
We are a diverse group including biostatisticians, epidemiologists and actuaries in the System Monitoring and Insights (SMI), based at 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards. The SMI team is responsible for the collection and analysis of data and information that informs the evaluation of key strategic bodies of work. One major focus of the SMI team is the Lumos linked data asset that brings together primary care and hospital data.

About the role
The primary purpose of the Senior Data Engineer is to (1) implement Snowflake data pipelines to extract data from various sources, transform and cleanse it, and load it into the data warehouses to facilitate efficient data modelling and reporting. (2) Administrate Secure Analytics Environment (SAE). It includes implementing the security models aligned with the data assets' ethics and business requirements, onboarding the users to Snowflake, onboarding the users to AWS Secure Analytics Environment, introducing users to the SAE, and responding to environmental queries. (3) Audit and analyse the resource and service consumptions, namely costs and users' logs. Produce reports and other outputs using innovative technological solutions to deliver high quality, readily accessible and relevant information for the organisation and stakeholders. (4) Collaborate with others across internal and external departments to ensure the objectives are achieved.
About you:
You are a motivated and committed individual who will support the work of NSW Health with:
Strong skills in SQL for maintaining the Snowflake data pipelines and unit testing.
Strong skills in AWS Secure Environment, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Active Directory (AD), and PowerShell syntax
Strong Technical communication skills for explaining the process and writing documentation.
Working knowledge in linked health data.
