As the Principal Project Manager – SSL Reporting Project you will work in dynamic environment with a highly experienced team, including the Principal Nursing Workload and Staffing Advisor and Associate Director Strategic Projects and Analytics. You will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of the statewide reporting solution for Safe Staffing Levels (SSL). You will be required to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the project is realistically designed, planned, developed, implemented and evaluated, managing the risk, quality and progress to ensure delivery is on time, on budget, to required quality and organisational standards, and within agreed scope.

Health Manager Level 4, starting salary from $147,653- $175,917 plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.

What you’ll be doing

  • Prepare and seek approval of project baseline documents, in conjunction with the Business Owner, project team, and key stakeholders. Documents include but are not limited to: Concept Brief, Project Initiation Document, Business Case, Benefits Review Plan, Project Procedures, Schedule and Work Packages.
  • Prepare, maintain and communicate relevant project documentation, including Project Status Reports, Steering Committee Reports, Issues and Risk registers, Post Implementation Reports, Lessons Learnt report, Closure Report and other documents agreed upon with the project governing body and/or PPMO Director.
  • Manage the production of the required project outputs and outcomes, taking responsibility for overall progress, use of resources and initiating corrective action where necessary.
  • Develop and seek acceptance of work packages, ensuring responsibility for the project team completing the work packages and securing acceptance and approval of deliverables from the business owner, clinical lead and delivery stakeholders.
  • Control and monitor the 'triple constraints' - project scope, time and cost (and quality) in managing competing project requirements and actively resolving and removing roadblocks, making sure the project is delivered within budget, schedule and scope tolerances.
  • Develop and seek approval of Change Requests to re-baseline variances in any of the 'triple constraint' dimensions.
  • Establish, collect and manage the project metrics data (such as baseline, actual values for costs, schedule, work in progress, and work completed) & report on project progress and other project specific information to stakeholders. 
  • Proactively identify and manage competing project resourcing priorities, escalating with relevant stakeholders to deconflict.


About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and/or experience and training.
  • Extensive experience in managing medium to large and/or complex projects in a large and complex service industry.  This includes demonstrated experience with ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and overseeing major aspects of projects management and implementation, including developing and monitoring project plans, coordinating resources, reporting, issue and risk management and managing budgets.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to analyse and interpret complex information from numerous sources, prepare and present analysis and reports, deal with challenges creatively and achieve business focused solutions. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Project and Visio or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with demonstrated experience engaging, collaborating, and influencing key stakeholders and customers to influence and achieve optimal business outcomes.
  • Previous experience working in a health-related environment or demonstrated familiarity with health-related operations and processes is desirable.
