About the role:

The Data Analyst role is a position within the InforMH Performance Analysis and Reporting (PAR) Team. The PAR Team designs and performs data analyses and produces a range of reporting products aligned with NSW Health priorities. New design and business as usual work involves collaborating closely with other InforMH streams and stakeholders to meet current and emerging data and reporting requirements at state and national levels. The team plays a critical role in responding to data requests and interpreting data and analyses across a range of topics specific and relevant to mental health and suicide. The team also provide data to support strategic and business planning, policy development, research and evaluation.

 

Health Manager level 2, starting salary from $109,857 - $129,624 plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Data assembly and manipulation: Access key NSW Health data sources to assemble complex data sets for analysis.
  • Descriptive and statistical analysis: Plan and conduct complex analysis of health data in order to describe consumer care journeys or outcomes and to describe variation between consumer groups or regions.
  • Data synthesis and communication: Summarise and synthesise the results of analysis and prepare reports or publications for use by NSW Health.
  • Indicator development: Contribute to the development of measures and indicators which can be used by NSW Health in the routine reporting of health system performance and outcomes.
  • Strategic development: Actively participate in planning and development for the stream, team and Branch to ensure that data and analysis approaches remain current and aligned with changing clinical and system priorities.

About you:

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with: 

  • Qualifications and experience: Suitable qualifications and extensive demonstrated industry experience in the analysis and reporting of health data, preferably gained in a health, clinical research or similar work environment not limited to clinical costing, services resourcing and workforce.
  • Technical knowledge: Knowledge and experience in the use of software packages, programming languages, analysis and reporting of information such as Microsoft Excel, Access, SAS, SQL or other related skills (e.g. R, Python, Power BI, Qlik, SSIS).
  • Capacity to think flexibly and creatively: Extensive analytical/problem-solving skills and experience with a proven ability to anticipate, initiate and develop procedures to improve work practices with an aptitude to use a creative approach to identified issues.
  • Communication ability: Superior written and oral communication skills and the capacity to prepare, deliver and present high quality analysis.
  • Environmental awareness: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NSW and Australian Health Systems and Health Data Collections with experience in analysis of clinical data to examine performance and outcomes of health care
