About the role:

The Clinical Advisor (Medical) will be responsible for establishing the key clinical policies, procedures and governance structures for a new NSW Health business unit established to centrally manage the locum medical workforce.
This will include leading the development of a new clinical capability framework to improve role and skill matching and ensure a high performing locum workforce as well as participating as a subject matter expert in a range of activities including taking part in policy development, business process development, technology testing, workflow testing, marketing, communications and the development of new flexible attraction and retention strategies.
The Clinical Advisor (Medical) will engage in consultations and briefings with clinical and operational leaders across the NSW Health system, as well as medical officers, locum doctors and other stakeholders to ensure this new service delivers a safe, quality and consistent experience for doctors and LHDs.
The Clinical Advisor (Medical) will also lead a program of work to develop a clinical “home” for non-vocationally registered locum doctors working within the NSW Health system to offer continuous professional development, career guidance, wellbeing support and a streamlined pathway to permanent employment opportunities within NSW Health.
Career Medical Officer Grade 1, starting salary from $139,187 - $168,166 plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.
What you’ll be doing
- Establishing clinical policies and processes and a clinical governance structure to support a high performing locum medical workforce for NSW Health.
- Developing a suite of tools to support locum career development and wellbeing.
- Provide advice regarding opportunities to expand, collaborate or support other medical engagement and recruitment initiatives across NSW Health.
- Participate as a subject matter expert in a range of activities across the unit’s development phase, including taking part in policy development, business process development, technology testing, workflow testing, marketing, communications and the development of attraction and retention strategies.
About you:
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Medicine with experience in medical administration and management or related comparable experience.
- Demonstrated experience in innovation and change, quality improvement, process design or program development, ideally in a complex healthcare environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including capacity to influence stakeholders, tailor messaging to diverse range of audiences and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience navigating healthcare and government policy and regulations, preferably within the NSW health system or similar large healthcare environments.
