Visiting Medical Officer in Ophthalmology
John Hunter Hospital (Commencing 1 January 2026)
John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, NSW is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the role of Visiting Medical Officer in Ophthalmology. The appointed specialist will provide comprehensive general/specialist ophthalmology services to patients within the Hunter New England Local Health District.
Essential Criteria:
• Hold a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology and/or overseas trained specialist pathways
What you'll do:
• Provide management of elective and emergency patients for ophthalmology at John Hunter Hospital, Kurri Kurri District Hospital, Belmont District Hospital and other facilities as needed
• Participate in on call schedules as determined by departmental needs
• Provide support and training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe practice
