Join our dedicated team at Cessnock District Hospital as a Visiting Medical Officer in General Practice (GP VMO) and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality care to a growing and vibrant regional community.
As a GP VMO, you will:
- Provide expert inpatient and emergency department services, ensuring comprehensive care for our patients.
- Conduct outpatient consultations and procedures in your private practice.
- Participate in after-hours and on-call rosters to support 24/7 emergency care.
- Manage acute medical emergencies including myocardial infarction, pulmonary oedema, and diabetic ketoacidosis.
- Access specialist support through the Hunter New England Local Health District’s extensive clinical network.
- Contribute to medico-legal and insurance reporting as required.
- Enjoy the flexibility to maintain a general practice alongside your hospital commitments.
What We’re Looking For
- A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP or FACRRM).
- Recent, broad-based experience in General Practice.
- Emergency Life Support training (completed or in progress).
- A strong interest and capability in Emergency Medicine.
- Availability for a 7-day after-hours/on-call roster.
