Opportunity to come work for the Hunter New England Local Health District. 

The Unaccredited Trainee roles on offer are for John Hunter Hospital and its rotational site at The Maitland Hospital.  It is a great opportunity for Obstetrics and Gynaecology training for both College and GP pathways training.

 

Where you'll be working

The Maternity and Gynaecology Service based at John Hunter Hospital under the Hunter New England Health District. The Maternity and Gynaecology is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral hospital which has 48 Obstetric beds (with an additional 15 flexible beds) and performs 4,300 deliveries per annum. We offer world class facilities that are constantly growing and expanding to include new and better training and service provision.

2027 will also see a new state-of-the-art facility for Birthing and Postnatal Service on the JHH Campus

 

The Primary Purpose is to provide safe, effective and equitable medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatients and outpatient areas in the public health. The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unaccredited Trainee is responsible for the initial assessment of patients and ongoing day to day management under the direction and supervision of the appropriate Consultants. The O&G Unaccredited Trainee has a responsibility for ensuring appropriate communication and documentation takes place as well as a responsibility for the training and supervision of junior medical staff.  This position is suitable for medical officers who plan to undertake a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.  Departmental support will be provided if an application for training with the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is planned.  Full-time and part-time working arrangements will be considered.


 
  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  2. Advanced ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
  3. Advanced ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
  4. Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
  5. Advanced ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
  6. Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  7. Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
