Where you'll be working:

Located on Level 1, the Sterilising Services department at John Hunter Hospital the Service Operates 24/7 Monday to Friday and on Weekends and Public Holidays the Department is open 7:00 to 23:00, providing essential reprocessing services to John Hunter, Belmont, and Calvary Mater Hospitals. We support 15 Operating Suites and numerous clinics, wards, and external customers. Excitingly, our department will move to the new Acute Services Building in 2026!



About us:

John Hunter Hospital's Sterilising Services Department operates 24/7 Monday to Friday and from 7:00 to 23:00 on weekends and public holidays. Our team provides essential reprocessing services for John Hunter, Belmont, and Calvary Mater Hospitals, supporting 15 Operating Suites, as well as multiple clinics, wards, and external customers. In 2026, we will be moving to the new Acute Services Building, offering a modern, state-of-the-art working environment.



About the role:

In this role, you will be responsible for reprocessing a variety of medical and surgical equipment, with a focus on specialties such as Orthopaedics, Trauma, and Neuro. You will ensure all instruments meet statutory requirements and departmental policies while contributing to the seamless operation of hospital services. Your expertise will also support external customer services, playing a key role in infection prevention and control.



About you:

We are looking for someone with a Sterilising Certificate and a strong understanding of the sterilisation process, including experience with an instrument tracking system. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be working closely with a team dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in patient care.
