John Hunter Children’s Hospital is seeking an experienced General Paediatrician to join the General Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine Service to provide clinical management and treatment of patients of John Hunter Children’s Hospital/HNEKidsHealth.
About the role
As a Staff Specialist, you will provide specialist paediatric services to inpatients admitted under the Adolescent Service, conducting regular paediatric outpatient clinics and participating in the acute general paediatric on-call roster. You will be recognised for your expertise in holistic adolescent care, particularly in the areas of Eating Disorders, Drug and Alcohol disorders, and/or Psychiatry. The ideal candidate will have recent experience in the management of young people with one or all of these subspecialties and a personal commitment to enhancing their skills across a broad range of youth and adolescent care.
About you
A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in General Paediatrics
Evidence of training and experience in general paediatric medicine, including both inpatient and outpatient care of children and young people
Evidence of recent work experience in the management of children and adolescents with eating disorders
Evidence of experience and high-level clinical skills in Youth Drug and Alcohol Demonstrated commitment to working within a harm reduction philosophy in clinical addiction medicine

Participate in ward rounds, clinical handover, outpatient clinics and on-call duties
Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Educate and supervise medical and allied health trainees
