Where you'll be working
Based at John Hunter Hospital, you will be an integral part of the Paediatric Oncology team, providing specialised pharmacy services to children undergoing cancer treatment. As one of the largest tertiary referral hospitals in New South Wales, John Hunter Hospital is a centre of excellence for paediatric oncology, offering cutting-edge treatments and a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. You will work alongside a highly skilled team of oncologists, nurses, and allied health professionals, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of chemotherapy and other essential medications to paediatric patients.
About the role
As the Senior Paediatric Oncology Pharmacist, you will be responsible for the oversight of chemotherapy services for paediatric oncology patients. Your role will include protocol checking, chemotherapy compounding, patient and family education, and participating in multidisciplinary rounds. You will provide clinical supervision and training for pharmacy staff working in paediatric oncology, ensuring high standards of medication safety and adherence to best practices in an oncology environment.
Working collaboratively with the Senior Paediatric Pharmacist and Pharmacy Service Manager/Deputy Service Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead, manage, and mentor a team of pharmacy professionals. A structured clinical supervision program, including oncology and compounding training, is in place to support your ongoing professional development.

You are an experienced and dedicated pharmacist with:
- Extensive experience in paediatric oncology.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise complex workloads in a dynamic clinical setting.
- A strong focus on medication safety in an oncology environment.
- A passion for mentoring and training pharmacy staff.
