Where you’ll be working: 

Located within 10km of Newcastle's prestigious coastline and just a short drive to the Hunter Valley wine country, John Hunter Hospital Intensive Care units will provide a rewarding career and a great lifestyle.

John Hunter Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a Level 6 referral centre for critically ill patients in the Hunter New England, Mid North Coast and Northern NSW Local Health Districts. It is the default centre for Trauma, Neurosurgery, Stroke, Vascular, Cardiothoracic, provide Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation Therapy (ECMO) and major General Surgery, as well as Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology. John Hunter Hospital also co-operatively services other Level 5 Intensive Care services in the Hunter New England region.

John Hunter Hospital Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 7-bed tertiary intensive care serving a teaching paediatric hospital in the Hunter New England Area, as well as the State of New South Wales. It cares for critically ill children with medical or surgical conditions including trauma. The PICU also provides a PICU outreach service for support for critically unwell children on the ward and in the emergency department.  The PICU team also supports the Hunter Retrieval Service and the Newborn Emergency Transport Service (NETS) for the transport of critically unwell children in the region.

The NSW Government has committed $835 million to redevelop the John Hunter and John Hunter Children's Hospital. The John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct project will deliver an innovative and integrated precinct with industry-leading facilities.  The project will work in collaboration with health, education, and research partners to meet the current and future needs of the greater Newcastle, Hunter New England, and Northern NSW regions.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
