About the role:
We’re looking for a motivated and experienced respiratory scientist to join our dedicated team, focusing on lung function testing for paediatric patients from a variety of clinical backgrounds. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver high-quality care and accurate respiratory assessments.
Where you’ll be working:
The Newcastle Infant and Child Lung Function Centre is located within the Paediatric Outpatients Department at John Hunter Children's Hospital. We provide pulmonary function testing and associated services for both inpatients and outpatients, serving the needs of our patients at all times while maintaining the highest measurement and ethical standards.

About you:
We’re seeking a skilled respiratory scientist with:
- Experience in performance of routine respiratory function tests including flow- volume loops and measurement of lung volumes and transfer factors.
- Experience in the more complex assessment of lung function including bronchial provocation testing (hypertonic saline and mannitol), skin prick testing, arterial blood gas sampling and cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
- Experience in the conduct of quality assurance, maintenance and trouble-shooting of respiratory function equipment.
- Experience working with Paediatric patients
Requirements:
- Undergraduate Degree in Applied Science or other degree in Science deemed equivalent by the employer.
