About the Role:
Ready to be the go-to person behind the scenes of a busy operating theatre? As an Operations Assistant at Gloucester Soldiers Memorial Hospital, you’ll be essential to keeping things running safely, smoothly, and seamlessly.

In this role, you’ll:
  • Prepare and check surgical equipment to ensure everything’s clean, functional, and ready to go.
  • Help maintain a safe, spotless clinical environment by cleaning rooms and equipment in line with ACORN and infection control standards.
  • Support theatre staff with patient positioning, prepping, and specimen transport — always with a respectful, patient-first mindset.
  • Keep inventory under control and tackle whatever pops up in a dynamic hospital setting.
  • This is a hands-on, active role in a team that values trust, initiative, and good humour. Every shift you work directly contributes to better outcomes for your local community.

About You:
You’re a doer, not a desk-sitter. Calm, capable, and quietly confident, you know how to prioritise and follow through. Whether you're experienced in healthcare or just starting out, you're ready to learn and bring energy to a tight-knit, rural team.

You have:

  • Previous experience as an Operations Assistant or a strong willingness to learn
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • The ability to manage time and juggle priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • An understanding of infection control practices (or a willingness to learn)
  • Availability to work a 7-day rotating roster, including on-call shifts when needed

Why Gloucester Soldiers Memorial Hospital?
Nestled in the picturesque town of Gloucester, our facility may be small, but our impact is mighty. With 14 acute beds, 3 emergency beds, and 12 Day Stay Unit chairs, you’ll be working where every role matters and every patient is known.

You’ll enjoy:

  • A genuinely supportive team culture, where you’re backed by nursing and management every step of the way
  • Online training, on-the-job learning, and career development opportunities
  • The stability of working within Hunter New England Health, with all the perks:
  • Salary packaging of up to $11,600 + novated leasing
  • Fitness Passport access
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your family
  • 4 weeks annual leave (pro-rata)
  • Paid parental leave (for eligible employees)
