During this contract, if required, you must be willing to undertake a 3-month rotation in a rural setting (accommodation assistance will be provided) and/or another site in Greater Newcastle, offering a unique opportunity to diversify your skill set.
Where you'll be working
John Hunter Hospital is the largest tertiary teaching hospital outside Sydney, delivering a wide range of Medical, Surgical, Maternity and Critical Care services. You will join a team of 25 dietitians who work across John Hunter Hospital (JHH), Belmont District Hospital (BDH), and Rankin Park Centre (RPC). Our team includes new graduates, student educators, clinical specialists, and experienced dietetic leaders. You will work as a respected member of the multidisciplinary team primarily on the General Medical ward.

About the role
This position offers you the chance to grow and refine your clinical skills in a supportive environment. You will manage a varied inpatient caseload, contribute to departmental and quality improvement initiatives, participate in food service activities, and work closely with a dedicated multidisciplinary team. As part of our graduate program, you will receive a thorough orientation, regular supervision from experienced dietitians, access to monthly dietetic education sessions, and embedded professional development opportunities.
About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible graduate dietitian who communicates effectively, works well in a team, and is committed to clinical reflection, ongoing learning, and supervision. A strong focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care is essential.
To be eligible, you must be completing your final year of a Dietitians Australia-accredited Nutrition and Dietetics degree in 2025, be eligible for full membership with Dietitians Australia, be willing to provide an academic transcript, and nominate your final clinical placement supervisor as a referee.

Requirements:
- Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in nutrition and dietetics that provides eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
Additional Information:
- To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
