About the Role
Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking an experienced and motivated Health Manager Level 2 – Security Compliance & Governance professional to join our Facilities Management Unit.
This position provides district-wide oversight of security governance, compliance, and risk management across a diverse network of hospital and community health facilities. You will play a key role in supporting the implementation of NSW Health security frameworks, including the Security Improvement Audit Tool (SIAT), ensuring consistent application of policy, standards, and best practice across all sites.
Working closely with the District Engineering Compliance & Security Manager, you will contribute to strengthening security systems that protect patients, staff, visitors, clinical operations, assets, and infrastructure.

A Day in the Life – Security Compliance & Governance (Health Manager Level 2)
In this role, no two days are the same. You are a key point of contact for security governance and compliance across a diverse network of hospitals and community health sites within HNELHD.
Your day may begin by reviewing Security Improvement Audit Tool (SIAT) findings from multiple facilities, identifying emerging risks, and working with local teams to prioritise corrective actions. You translate audit outcomes into clear, practical improvement plans that strengthen safety for patients, staff, and visitors.
Across the day, you collaborate with WHS Coordinators, security managers, facility executives, and operational staff, providing expert advice on security risk management, legislation, and NSW Health policy requirements. You help ensure a consistent, district-wide approach to security governance, balancing local operational needs with system-wide standards.

You may be called to:

  • Support sites in responding to complex security risks or incidents
  • Advise on compliance with NSW security legislation, licensing, and NSW Health policies
  • Contribute to the design and refinement of district-wide security frameworks and procedures
  • Participate in governance discussions focused on improving service delivery and risk mitigation

A significant part of your role involves turning data into action—preparing high-quality reports, briefings, and analysis that inform decision-making at site and district level. You ensure that findings from audits and reviews lead to measurable improvements.
You also play an active role in education and capability building, supporting managers and staff to better understand their security obligations and promoting a proactive culture of safety and accountability.
Throughout the week, you may engage with the Ministry of Health and participate in formal audits and improvement initiatives, ensuring HNELHD remains aligned with best practice standards and regulatory requirements.
Above all, you are a trusted advisor who helps drive a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring security systems are effective, compliant, and responsive to the needs of a complex healthcare environment.
