About the Role:
The Gynaecology and Women’s Health Unit, based within John Hunter Hospital, is excited to invite their newest Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) into its team. The CNE plays a vital role in supporting the clinical development of nursing staff, ensuring safe and evidence-based care, and facilitating ongoing professional development within the unit. Each day can be varied depending on patient acuity, staffing needs, and education priorities, but generally includes a mix of clinical support, teaching, and administrative responsibilities.

You won’t be working alone. You’ll be supported by your line manager, the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), and mentorship from our Clinical Midwifery Educator (CME) team will be available. A thorough orientation to the hospital and ward will be provided to our successful applicant. As our new Clinical Nurse Educator, you will have:
- Advanced knowledge of gynaecological and women’s health conditions, procedures, and recovery pathways (e.g., post-op care, early pregnancy loss, uro-gynaecological issues, gynae-oncology).
- Confidence in evidence-based practice, clinical guidelines, and national standards (e.g., ACSQHC, NSQHS, RANZCOG recommendations).
- Skills in complex clinical decision-making, particularly in rapidly changing situations.
- The ability to deliver adult learning principles in both formal and informal settings.
- Skills in developing and delivering orientation programs, in-services, simulations, and bedside coaching.
- Competence in assessing clinical competencies, providing constructive feedback, and supporting reflective practice. Able to adapt education to a range of learners – students, new graduates, overseas-trained nurses, and experienced staff.
- The ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple tasks, balancing clinical support with education delivery.
- The ability to lead and promote change initiatives

Essential criteria: 
- Current Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Holds a relevant post graduate qualification (Preferably Masters level) with a demonstrated focus on education, teaching and clinical leadership or working towards same with extensive clinical experience.
- Holds a Current Workplace Training and Assessment cert IV (or working towards same).
