About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified Carpenter to join our Maintenance Department, delivering high-quality corrective and preventative maintenance across hospital buildings, infrastructure, and grounds.
Working as part of a multi-skilled trades team, you will contribute to new projects and refurbishment works, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant standards. This role reports to the Engineer and may involve travel to other facilities within the district.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out carpentry works across new construction, refurbishment, and maintenance projects
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and contractors to achieve project outcomes
  • Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and schedules
  • Complete all work in accordance with the Building Code of Australia (BCA), local authority requirements, WHS standards, and Australian Standards
  • Undertake both corrective and preventative maintenance across buildings and infrastructure
  • Travel to other HNE Health facilities and stay away from home as required
  • Work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Construction Manager

What You’ll Bring to the Team
You are a qualified and experienced Carpenter with a strong background in construction and maintenance, capable of undertaking complex carpentry tasks. You bring a high level of attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload.
A collaborative and reliable team member, you communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and hospital staff. You are adaptable, safety-focused, and committed to delivering quality outcomes in a healthcare environment.

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant trade qualifications in Carpentry
  • Eligible to drive in NSW and willingness to travel for work purposes

About the Team
The Maintenance Department provides essential services across all hospital buildings, infrastructure, and grounds. The team includes a diverse group of trades professionals, including an Engineer, Carpenter, Plumber, Electrician, Handyman, and Gardener, with support from external contractors as required.
