Our 8-chair unit is part of the broader dialysis network under the John Hunter Hospital Department of Nephrology, offering you the opportunity to work within a well-established and respected service.
About the Role
We are seeking a Part Time Assistant in Nursing to work 8-hour shifts every Saturday and on public holidays.
In this rewarding role, you will be trained to work alongside our dialysis nursing team, assisting with both basic nursing care and dialysis-specific tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and organising consumables for dialysis treatments
- Assisting with the setup of dialysis machines
- Monitoring patients during treatment under RN supervision
- Assisting with the completion of dialysis treatments
- Removing lines from dialysis machines (as allocated by RN)
- Assisting with disinfection of dialysis equipment, including machines and chairs
- Holding cannula puncture sites post-dialysis for high-dependency patients
You will be well supported by senior nursing staff and work within a dynamic, collaborative team that values excellence in patient care.
About You
We are looking for motivated AINs who:
- Have a genuine passion for teamwork and patient-centred care
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity and a strong work ethic
- Bring a positive outlook and willingness to learn
- Are reliable and available to work every Saturday and public holidays
Experience in dialysis is not essential — training will be provided — but a willingness to learn and contribute to a high-performing team is essential.
Essential Requirements
Certificate III Assistant in Nursing or currently enrolled in an undergraduate Registered Nursing degree (completion of first year and first semester or trimester of second year), or currently enrolled in a TAFE NSW Diplomas of Nursing (completion of identified foundational units in practice AND 120 hours of clinical placement).
