Where you’ll be working

Imagine finishing your shift and being just minutes from mountain trails, crystal-clear rivers, and wide open spaces—perfect for camping, kayaking, or simply breathing in the fresh country air. Gloucester Soldiers Memorial Hospital (GSMH) is at the heart of this vibrant community, providing essential acute and community healthcare services to the people who call this region home.
Our hospital may be small, but our impact is mighty. With 14 acute beds in Roma Ward, a busy Emergency Department, 12 Day Stay Unit chairs, an Operating Theatre, and a Community Health Centre, GSMH is a place where variety and teamwork are part of every day. You’ll be working alongside a supportive and passionate team of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing, General Practitioners, Visiting Medical Officers and Allied Health professionals—people who care deeply about their patients and about each other.
About the role
As an Assistant in Nursing at Gloucester, you’ll be the reassuring presence and compassionate support our patients rely on. It’s a role that calls for care and attention to detail, but it also rewards you with the opportunity to truly connect with patients and families in a close-knit rural setting. No two shifts will ever look the same, and you’ll finish each day knowing you’ve made a meaningful difference in someone’s journey of care.
About you
You’re motivated, caring, and a natural team player. With strong communication skills and a collaborative approach, you thrive under the guidance of Registered and Enrolled Nurses while also bringing initiative to your work.
