About the Role:

Are you an organised and proactive administrative professional looking for your next challenge? The Intermediate Stay Mental Health Unit (ISMHU) is seeking a motivated Administration Officer to provide vital administrative and clerical support to our team.

In this role, you’ll help ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Unit by providing high-quality administrative assistance to nursing, allied health, and medical staff, as well as supporting patients, families, and carers. You’ll play an important part in helping the team deliver excellent care within a compassionate, structured, and professional environment.

This position offers a Monday to Friday schedule (7:30am – 4:00pm) and is based at the James Fletcher Campus, just minutes from Newcastle Beach, with the added benefit of secure onsite parking.

The Intermediate Stay Mental Health Unit (ISMHU) is part of the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) and provides focused, recovery-oriented care for people experiencing mental health challenges.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As the Administration Officer, you will:

  • Deliver a range of administrative and clerical support services to ensure the smooth operation of the Unit.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative assistance to nursing, allied health, and medical staff.
  • Support communication between staff, patients, and families with professionalism and compassion.
  • Manage general enquiries, record keeping, and data entry with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assist in scheduling, documentation, and coordination of ward activities.

 

Your organisational skills and ability to juggle competing priorities will ensure the team runs efficiently and that patients and families receive exceptional service and support.

You’re an organised, approachable, and detail-oriented professional who enjoys being part of a collaborative team. You’re proactive in your work, handle sensitive information with care, and bring a calm and supportive presence to your workplace.


You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in administrative or clerical roles.

  • Proficiency in computer systems and confidence in learning new programs.
