Where you’ll be working
You will be based within the Respiratory Department at John Hunter Hospital, working closely alongside the Sleep Unit, which operates from a separate location. This is a busy and highly collaborative clinical environment where you’ll work with a dedicated team of administrative staff, medical officers, nurses, and the Respiratory and Sleep Team Leader. The department plays a vital role in supporting patients with complex respiratory and sleep-related conditions, making strong administrative support essential to daily operations.
About the role
In this role, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to Staff Specialists and the wider clinical team, helping to ensure the smooth running of multiple respiratory clinics and patient pathways. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include answering and managing phone enquiries, booking and coordinating patient appointments, typing correspondence for advanced trainees, and reviewing and distributing clinical letters. You will also assist with clinic preparation and patient coordination, contributing to efficient service delivery and a positive patient experience in a fast-paced hospital setting.
