Are you passionate about empowering young people to thrive in education and life? Join a dynamic team at the Bondi Centre’s Early Psychosis Program (EPP), where you’ll help young people navigate their educational journeys while supporting their mental health and wellbeing.

Working within the Early Psychosis Program (EPP) in a multidisciplinary mental health team that provides specialised interventions to young people, the EPP Peer Support Worker will provide lived experience guided, recovery orientated, trauma informed peer support to people who access the EPP.

This position will be based at the SESLHD Bondi Junction Mental Health Centre.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Personal lived experience of mental health crisis, and ability to meaningfully and purposefully use lived experience to provide peer support to young people who are experiencing or have experienced psychosis.
  2. Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness to successfully complete within 18 months of commencing.
  3. Demonstrated experience in using recovery orientated, trauma informed principles and situational distress approaches in providing support to people experiencing psychological distress.
  4. Understanding of the youth mental health sector and ability to utilise appropriate support such as crisis response, safety planning and managing risk.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to co-design, recovery orientated, trauma informed approaches and lived experience leadership in service provision.
  6. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and with a diverse range of stakeholders including consumers, families, and service providers.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  8. Demonstrated excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
