An exciting opportunity exists for an Allied Health Assistant - Recreation Lifestyle Officer with a strong interest in leisure and recreation to provide meaningful leisure and social programs for residents who have a primary diagnosis of dementia.

Where you'll be working
Garrawarra Centre is an accredited residential aged care facility located in Waterfall NSW, approximately 43 kms south of Sydney and 44kms north of Wollongong.

Garrawarra Centre provides person centred, high level care for people with a primary diagnosis of dementia who exhibit behavioural and psychological symptoms. The Diversional Therapy team at Garrawarra Centre consists of Diversional Therapists and Recreation Lifestyle Officers who work together to provide quality leisure programs focussing on individual residents needs and interests.

All employees at Garrawarra Centre will be required to complete a NDIS Worker check.

The casual Allied Health Assistant - Recreation Lifestyle officer will provide meaningful, person centered leisure and lifestyle programs for residents with a primary diagnosis of dementia and associated behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia under the supervision and support of the Diversional Therapy Coordinator.

Selection Criteria:
1. Experience working in aged care and with people who have dementia
2. Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or willing to obtain such a qualification
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills
4. Ability to work in a team delivering holistic care
5. Demonstrated understanding of WH&S guidelines
6. Current First Aid certificate
