Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Department of Vascular Surgery, Gosford and Wyong Hospitals, Central Coast Local Health District CCLHD.  

 

Applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and / or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Visiting Medical Officer Determination.

 

Central Coast is comprised of the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, which are collectively expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to 450,000 population before 2030. The Local Health District has strong connections with both Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle. 

 

Applicants should ideally be a current member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery ( ANZSVS)

 

To maintain accreditation requirements as a  vascular surgical training post of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons:
1.    FRACS applicants must possess and produce at interview a current Certificate of Participation in the Australasian Vascular Audit  ( interim Certificates for recently qualified FRACS will be acceptable)
2.    Non FRACS applicants must commit to participation in the ANZSVS’s Australasian Vascular Audit (AVA) if successful.

 

Elective theatre sessions:  The successful applicant will have 3 half day operating sessions per 4 week cycle

 

On – Call Duties: The successful applicant will cover on-call at both Wyong Hospital and Gosford hospitals. At commencement the on-call will be 1 week per 4 week rotation. The frequency of the on-call may increase or decrease during periods of leave or recruitment.

 

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Visiting Medical Officer Determination. 

This position has obligations to both Gosford Hospital under Sessional arrangements and Wyong Hospital under Fee For Service arrangements.

    1. Medical Practitioner registered or able to be registered in Australia, inclusive of an unrestricted 19AB exempted provider number.
    2. Recognised specialist qualifications, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and / or other equivalent specialist recognition. Current member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery (ANZSVS) is preferable.
    3. Participation in the ANZSVS’s Australasian Vascular Audit (AVA), and in possession of a current certificate of participation in the AVA.
    4. Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Vascular Surgery.
    5. Ability to work constructively and effectively in a Multidisciplinary team environment, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
    6. Demonstrated willingness and ability to lead and supervise medical and surgical trainees, residents and medical students; eg experience in teaching the management of the deteriorating patient would be advantageous.
    7. Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.
    8. Demonstrated commitment to Caring for the Coast vision, goals and strategies, with demonstrated behaviours which align to the NSW CORE values and CCLHD Values and Behaviours charter.
