Achieve Something Great
This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people, and families while growing your professional capability within a supportive, purpose driven team in Healthy Kids and Families.

Why you'll love this role:

  • Provide impactful psychosocial assessment, advocacy, and support using a person centred framework, ensuring families receive compassionate, evidence based care.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to deliver a continuum of care that meets the diverse needs of children, parents, and carers.
  • Build your professional capability through structured development opportunities, including clinical supervision, peer review, professional development planning, and participation in clinical networks.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, helping shape a service that evolves to deliver the highest standard of care.
  • Be part of a team that values cultural respect, inclusivity, and the NSW Health CORE values, ensuring your work supports healthier communities and meaningful health outcomes.

About The Role
We are seeking a Social Worker to join our Community Paediatrics team, supporting paediatricians in the assessment and care of children presenting to clinics with behavioural, developmental, and psychosocial concerns. You will work alongside families to ensure they feel informed, supported, and empowered. A key part of this role involves supporting the health literacy of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and refugee families, ensuring information is accessible, culturally respectful, and tailored to each family’s context. This includes helping families understand assessment processes, navigating service pathways, and advocating for equitable access to care.

You will bring a strong understanding of child protection concerns and the interface between trauma, safety, and child development. This includes recognising indicators of risk, understanding how trauma may present in behaviour and development, and working collaboratively with paediatricians and statutory agencies to ensure children’s safety and wellbeing. Your practice will be grounded in trauma informed principles, balancing support, advocacy, and mandatory reporting responsibilities with sensitivity and cultural awareness.

You will play a key role in:

  • Conducting psychosocial assessments that inform paediatric clinical decision making.
  • Supporting families to navigate services, understand care pathways, and access appropriate interventions.
  • Providing early intervention, advocacy, and coordinated care to improve health and developmental outcomes.
  • Ensuring care is culturally safe, trauma informed, and aligned with best practice standards.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to a service that supports children’s wellbeing from a holistic, person-centred perspective.

Are You the Right Fit?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children, young people, and families through compassionate, evidence based social work practice.

  • You bring experience in psychosocial assessment, advocacy, and patient centred care, with a strong commitment to achieving health outcomes.
  • You have strong communication skills with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, including children, families and carers.
  • You bring experience working within multidisciplinary teams, ensuring care is coordinated, responsive, and culturally respectful.
  • You demonstrate professionalism through reflective practice, clinical supervision, ongoing professional development, and participation in quality improvement activities.
  • You work collaboratively, engage respectfully with diverse communities, and uphold the values and ethical standards of NSW Health and the AASW Code of Ethics.
  • You manage your workload efficiently, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute positively to team goals, service development, and student learning.
