About the role
The Senior Allied Health Professional is an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team, providing clinical leadership and high quality services to patients/clients of the WNSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) in order to meet health and wellbeing needs.
This role is an opportunity to work with the Orange Rehabilitation unit and Orange Health Service Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology department. The successful applicant will be employed in a job share capacity, on a part time contract, and provide leadership clinically and non-clinically for the service and a team that consists of 2 level 1-2 Physiotherapists, and a half time allied health assistant. You will manage and prioritise the clinical case load with your team, as well as providing support and mentoring to staff and students, evaluate the rehabilitation service, and provide training and support to your peers within Orange Health Service and neighbouring facilities. The level 4 allied health clinician role also entails being available to provide consultation and expertise within the Western New South Wales Health District.
The clinical case load consists of neurological presentations including stroke (rehab ward or acute stroke unit ward), rehabilitation of elective joint replacement surgeries, and any referral accepted by the rehabilitation consultants from the hospital wards. This may include general medical and surgical units, as well as other specialised wards. In addition to the inpatient case load, the senior rehabilitation Physiotherapist in this service provide high level clinical input to various clinics – this includes prosthetic and orthotics clinics, neurodegenerative clinics, and spasticity clinics.
Physiotherapists in the rehabilitation setting offer extensive and targeted discharge planning in collaboration with specialized multi-disciplinary teams (MDT).
The successful candidate for this role would be willing to contribute to a positive team culture, prioritises wellbeing, developing skills and performance, and prioritisation of safe and effective patient care.
Additionally, the rehab senior will also support department goals and Hospital wide clinical priorities when required and is able to provide high level advice and support to others, as it relates to the rehab service.
With a focus on innovative models of care, Orange Health Service is the largest rural hospital in New South Wales and the regional teaching, referral and trauma centre for the Central West. Newly developed in 2011 on the grounds of Bloomfield Campus, the 520 bed state of the art facility has a 200 bed general hospital, with five operating suites and 60 specialised treatment areas.
The Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology department actively support professional development and aim to ensure opportunities such as in-services, journal clubs, and supervision and are provided on weekly basis.
