We are seeking a compassionate Social Worker to join our Child Protection Counselling Service (CPCS) team within the Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) service stream. This role provides specialist casework and therapeutic counselling to children and their families/carers where Risk of Significant Harm (ROSH) due to domestic violence, physical abuse, or neglect has been confirmed by Family and Community Services and/or the Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP).

As a senior clinician, you will also contribute to clinical leadership within the team, provide professional supervision to junior staff, and play a key role in service development and evaluation.


About the Role: 

  • Deliver trauma-informed, client-centred counselling and casework to children and families impacted by child abuse and neglect.

  • Provide medium to long-term interventions that support recovery, enhance safety, and strengthen parenting capacity.

  • Collaborate with external partners including Community Services, JCPRP, schools, police, and non-government agencies.

  • Act as a clinical leader within the CPCS team by supporting service development, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Provide professional supervision and mentorship to less experienced social workers.

  • Support staff and student education through teaching and reflective practice.

About You: 

  • A Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
    (Overseas-qualified applicants must provide their AASW Overseas Assessment Number.)
  • A current and valid NSW Driver Licence and a willingness to travel as required.
  • A National Criminal Record Check.
  • A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment.
  • Compliance with NSW Health Vaccination Category A / immunisation requirements.

As a senior clinician and team leader, you are also expected to actively support and promote a positive safety culture, in line with NSW Health’s Safety Management System. You consult effectively with others to ensure health, safety, and wellbeing across the workplace and encourage continuous improvement in practice and service delivery.
