Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Department of Respiratory Medicine – Gosford Hospital, Central Coast Local Health District CCLHD.
Applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and / or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award. (Applicants expecting to be awarded their fellowship within three months may be considered. If successful the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.)
The Part Time Temporary position is a parental relief position and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from parental leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice. Parental relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for parental leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency.
There is also a Permanent Part Time position vacant. Applicants may choose to apply for either or both vacant positions.
Central Coast is comprised of the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, which are collectively expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to 450,000 population before 2030. The Local Health District has strong connections with both Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle.
These positions are both fractional staff specialist appointment. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

- Medical Practitioner registered or able to be registered in Australia, inclusive of an unrestricted or 19AB exempted provider number.
- Recognised specialist qualifications, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and / or other equivalent specialist recognition. - Demonstrated commitment to Caring for the Coast vision, goals and strategies, with demonstrated behaviours which align to the NSW CORE Values and CCLHD Values and Behaviours charter.
- Demonstrated experience and competency in pleural procedures such as thoracic ultrasound and intercostal catheter insertion
- Demonstrated experience and competency in bronchoscopy and EBUS.
- Knowledge and experience in the diagnosis and management of Tuberculosis.
- Willingness to engage in rapid respiratory review clinics
- Proven ability to work with community respiratory care teams.
- Willingness to develop and supervise a lung nodule/ lung cancer screening referral service for CCLHD, working closely with GPs, nursing staff, radiology and other physicians.
- Demonstrated experience and competency in activity based funding and clinical coding processes. Experience in disseminating this knowledge to clinical teams
- Sleep training accreditation and relevant sleep medicine experience to participate in and assist with the management of sleep disorders, respiratory failure and the day-to-day functioning of the sleep laboratory.
- Willingness to provide care to general medicine type patients. Participation in a general medicine roster may be required.
