Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Department of Cardiology, Gosford Hospital, Central Coast Local Health District CCLHD.
Applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and / or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Visiting Medical Officer Determination
Central Coast is comprised of the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, which are collectively expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to 450,000 population before 2030. The Local Health District has strong connections with both Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle.
This position has obligations to both Gosford Hospital under Sessional arrangements and Wyong Hospital under Fee for Service arrangements. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
This role is to provide firstly a clinical management and consultation service to patients with conditions applicable to the sub-specialty of Interventional Cardiology and participate in an appropriate on- call roster for Central Coast Local Health District at the two acute care sites in Gosford and Wyong Hospitals, secondly to provide education, supervision and support to junior medical staff, and thirdly to engage in ongoing quality assurance activities both at the Departmental and District Level and additionally as directed by the Director of Medical Services and the Director of Clinical Governance.
As an Interventional Cardiologist, the Candidate is required to be credentialed according to the CSANZ competence criteria for percutaneous coronary interventions. Completing at least one year of fellowship program in Interventional Cardiology is essential. A strong commitment for 24/7 primary PCI service is essential.

- Medical Practitioner registered or able to be registered in Australia, inclusive of an unrestricted or 19AB exempted provider number.
- Recognised specialist qualifications, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and / or other equivalent specialist recognition.
- Credentialed according to the CSANZ competence criteria for percutaneous coronary interventions.
Completing at least one year of fellowship program in Interventional Cardiology is essential. Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Cardiology - Ability to work constructively and effectively in a Multidisciplinary team environment, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to lead and supervise medical and surgical trainees, residents and medical students; Previous experience in teaching the management of the deteriorating patient would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated commitment to Caring for the Coast vision, goals and strategies, with demonstrated
