Be part of a compassionate team working towards zero suicides. Central Coast Local Health District is seeking a Suicide Prevention Peer Worker to provide authentic, recovery focused support to people experiencing suicidality.
About the Opportunity
The Suicide Prevention Peer Worker will work across Acute Mental Health Service teams to deliver rapid, trauma informed and recovery-oriented crisis support. Drawing on personal lived experience of suicidal crisis, this role provides hope, connection and non-clinical support to people at risk. In this role you will:
• Provide direct peer support to people at risk of suicide, promoting hope, connection and reduced isolation.
• Support recovery and wellness planning using person centred and trauma informed approaches.
• Work collaboratively with acute teams and stakeholders to strengthen referral pathways and service awareness.
• Assist people to access ongoing community supports beyond the Suicide Prevention Service.
• Contribute to data collection, evaluation activities, quality improvement and professional development.

About You
We are looking for someone who has:
• Personal lived experience of suicidal crisis and ability to use this safely and purposefully in peer support.
• Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (Consumer or Carer), or willingness to complete within 18 months.
• Experience applying recovery oriented and trauma informed principles in suicide prevention support.
• Strong communication, negotiation and time management skills with ability to work collaboratively.
• Current unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence and demonstrated computer literacy in Microsoft applications.
