The Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) is looking for 2 Temporary Part Time and Full Time Senior Health Clinician to work in the PACER department.

The PACER Clinician forms part of the Police, Ambulance Clinical Early Response (PACER) team, delivering highly mobile, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed clinical advice, consultancy and support to NSW Police Force (Brisbane Water and Tuggerah Lakes Area Command) and NSW Ambulance.

The role supports emergency services in safely and effectively managing individuals presenting with acute mental health symptoms within the community. The PACER model enhances interagency collaboration and facilitates timely access to appropriate mental health care and treatment pathways.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide secondary clinical response to operational police units and NSW Ambulance for mental health-related incidents.

  • Conduct comprehensive triage, primary assessment and advanced clinical management of complex mental health crises in community settings.

  • Deliver expert clinical consultation and risk assessment to emergency service personnel.

  • Facilitate appropriate referral pathways and entry points into mental health services and ongoing treatment.

  • Support coordinated care planning for consumers with complex mental and physical health needs.

  • Promote recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and person-centred approaches to care.

  • Provide education and capacity-building support to police and ambulance staff in relation to mental health presentations.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with relevant clinical governance, legislative and policy requirements.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience as per clinical discipline and current registration as an Accredited Person under the NSW Mental Health Act 2007 or meets criteria and willing to work towards achieving this.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Police, Ambulance, Emergency Department staff, other mental health teams, GPs, Psychiatrists, private allied health providers and Government and Non-Government providers as part of maintaining consumer wellbeing and mental state.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in triage, assessment, care planning and coordination with mental health consumers within a strength and recovery-oriented framework.

     

  • Demonstrated extensive comprehensive knowledge in mental health and drug and alcohol issues and ability to provide brief therapeutic interventions.
  • Demonstrated ability in risk assessment for consumers who may be suicidal and demonstrated understanding of the NSW Health Toward Zero Suicide in Care directive.
  • Current NSW unrestricted drivers license.
