What you'll be doing
The Senior Resident Medical Officer in General Medicine is responsible for the delivery of medical care as a junior member of a multi-disciplinary team, consistent with their level of skill and experience. This position is a rotation position comprising of 4 teams. The position is ideally suited for either doctors considering a career in General Practice, or looking toward a BPT pathway in future years.
The rotations that may be available include:
- Emergency Medicine
- General/Geriatric Medicine
- Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Paediatrics
- Relief
- Respiratory Medicine
Terms will be assigned based on individual preference and clinical need within the hospital.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Must have completed 2 years post-graduate training including a minimum of 12 months experience in an Australian public hospital (not as an observer).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A professional attitude and preparedness to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.
- Ability to recognise the acutely unwell patient, to initiate immediate management, appropriately escalate care and institute Basic Life Support.
- Completion of ALS and/or commitment to complete these within 3 months of appointment.
