To be eligible for this position you must be a graduate from an Australian or New
Zealand AMC accredited medical school.

RPR Medical Officer – Intern
A position is currently available for a Rural Preferential Recruit Medical Officer – Intern at Dubbo Health Service. The primary purpose of the Intern is to provide safe and high-quality care as a delegate of the specialist consultant involved in management of the patient, at all times making decisions in consultation with their immediate supervisor. You will receive great training, ongoing educational opportunities and fantastic support.

The position supports meeting the requirements for General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Dubbo Health Service is a major rural referral Hospital and part of the Western NSW Local Health District. It provides a range of acute inpatient and ambulatory care services including general medical and surgical, maternity, gynaecology, paediatrics, rehabilitation, critical care, mental health, renal dialysis, oncology, palliative care, hospital in the home and diagnostic services.
The Health Service also offers a wide range of primary and community health services including child and family health services, mental health services and antenatal and postnatal services.
Dubbo Health Service has undergone remarkable transformations under the Dubbo Hospital Redevelopment project. With Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 ($91.3 million) complete; which includes:
A new Emergency Department and Short Stay Unit
A new Medical Imaging Unit
A new Ambulatory Care Unit
A new Dialysis Unit
A new Critical Care Floor comprising of:
Coronary Care/Stroke Unit
Intensive Care Unit
Cardiac Catheter Laboratory (and Angiography Laboratory space)

Essential Requirements:
Model the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
Participate in after-hours rosters including nights and weekends and/or participate in a 24/7 roster and may be rostered to day, evening or night shifts across a seven day roster.
Move between services and geographical locations to deliver patient care.
Participate in ward rounds and clinical handover, to transfer information, accountability and responsibility for a patient or group of patients, following the ISBAR protocol, National Australian Standards.
Complete mandatory training as required by Western NSW Local Health District and NSW Health.
Attend all applicable organisation-wide, hospital, department and role orientation sessions.
Abide by all conditions/provision of employment as outlined in the relevant Award.
Conduct all required responsibilities and tasks of the role in a manner that is consistent with legislation, local and state-wide delegations, procedures, policies and manuals, which include but are not limited to the following areas:
NSW Health Code of Conduct;
Performance management and development;
Work, Health and Safety;
Records Management; and
Confidentiality and privacy.
All staff are expected to take reasonable care that their acts and omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of others, that they comply with any reasonable instructions that is given to them and with any policies/procedures relating to health or safety in the workplace, as well as notifying any hazards/risks or incidents to their managers.
For accredited training roles, comply with the relevant specialist medical college's training and examination requirements.
Act as role model and promote a culture and supporting practices that reflect the organisational values through demonstrated behaviours and interactions with patients/clients/employees.
Comply with supervision requirements as set out by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Demonstrates ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills (at the required level of competency), judgment and expertise.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the health care team.
Good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
Demonstrated interest in and commitment to the provision of quality healthcare in a rural setting.
