The Andrology Department at Concord Hospital, in partnership with the Concord Endocrinology department, is seeking an Endocrinology Advanced Trainee (elective year)

The Department of Andrology
The Andrology department of Concord Hospital is the first and only hospital department of this discipline in Australia. The department comprises a collated and highly integrated clinical service and laboratory providing clinical ambulatory care together with an adjacent laboratory and sperm cryostorage facility. The department has strong international and interstate linkages and provides services on a national, state-wide, regional as well as local basis.
The department’s services are predominantly ambulatory and cover the full range of disorders in Andrology. These are primarily investigation and management of androgen deficiency, induction of spermatogenesis, male infertility, sperm storage and post cancer late reproductive effects, differences of sex differentiation and transgender medicine.
The Department of Endocrinology
The Department of Endocrinology & Metabolism provides a comprehensive range of ambulatory and in-patient clinical and laboratory services. These include General Endocrinology, Bone Disorders, Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolic Rehabilitation.
The role
The Andrology/Endocrinology Advance trainee will spend 3 days a week in the Andrology department, working in clinics as well as undertaking clinical research. The Andrology department will provide you with the opportunity to develop research skills in a well supported environment. The remaining 2 days will be working in a clinical role in the Endocrinology clinics, covering a broad spectrum of endocrinological presentations.
This position may be accredited as an elective year in Endocrinology.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Completed FRACP examinations (written and clinical) Demonstrated interest in Endocrinology, and have completed 1 year in Core or RCY College accredited position.
- Understands the role of the andrologist and endocrinologist in complex clinical settings, identifying current major issues in endocrine research, clinical practice or health care delivery.
- Excellent theoretical knowledge and clinical judgement.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical team - diligence, punctuality, organisation, record keeping, time management, problem solving skills and team work.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) with patients, their families, medical and non-medical colleagues. Demonstrates ability to provide empathetic and expert clinical care.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education, research and teaching. Commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent).
